Tuesday was an exciting day here in the great state of Oklahoma! As some, including my sweet Arkansan husband, like to call it "God's country" -- I cracked up, in fact, when the news anchor called it that on the news Tuesday night.
Anyway, oh, around 2 weeks ago, we had some ice. It was cold as all get out, it was icy, it was raining, it was snowy. It was WINTER. Then, 2 days ago, we had warm weather. Talk about giving me some spring fever. It was dreary on Tuesday, then it started raining. John and I were here minding our own business at work, when John's old roommate, good ole Shawn, called to let us know there was a tornado warning in our area. LOL. Didn't phase any of us, we kept working. In fact, John and I had to run an errand, and we were "storm chasing" while we did it. HA HA. We were standing outside watching the direction we knew the tornadoes were. On our side of town, things weren't too bad, some rain and wind. Some siren-age, but otherwise, things were ok. We did get some hail, which caused a little bit of fear in me.
We watched some weather channel and read some reports and a tornado had touched down near our neighborhood. I really was afraid that we would go home to no home, or at least to one without power. On the way home, I heard them give street names as to where tornadoes had hit, it was eerily close to our neighborhood. It was one of those times that you don't know how to feel. Do you feel scared to maybe have no home? Do you say, nah, it's ok, it wasn't our neighborhood? It was strange. Thankfully, when we got home, our house was fine, we had power. It looked like it had been off for a while, but it was on when we got home. Our cats were a little on the scared side, but sometimes they act weird anyway....
We watched the news to be sure we were out of the woods and they started giving reports where tornadoes had hit. I felt God's protection over us. The tornado hit 2 miles south of us and 2 miles north of us. It jumped over our neighborhood in a way.
I do hate it for the people whose homes it did hit. It hit a neighborhood with some high dollar houses and then some where normal people live. (Sorry to those who live in high dollar houses -- I'm a normal person ;)). It was strange to have tornadoes in February, but it is good to have God's protection around us all the time!
Thank you Lord for protecting us from the bad weather. Thank you for the sun shining days we have now. We praise you in all things!
