While I was cleaning out the spare bedroom for my father in law last week, I opened a box of personal belongings that my mother had kept for me for a while. She sent it home with me at Thanksgiving and I only just now opened it.
I was so very surprised to see some things I hadn't seen in so long!! Who remembers "My Child" the doll that you pick out that is similar to who you are? I wasn't even sure if I still had them. It was so very exciting to find them. LOL. One was only wearing pants -- yes, I guess I liked having my dolls "run" around like little babies without shirts, who knows.
She also put in the same box some blankets that I had never seen -- but she had made just for me!! :) AND....there was some dresses. Tiny little baby dresses. I called my mom to find out exactly about the dresses. One in particular she remembered me wearing to church and tearing b/c I crawled. It made me teary eyed, but it did. I told John, when we have kids (hopefully at least 1 girl) they will wear those dresses. My sweet Momma saved those dresses for me for my daughter to wear one day -- now for just waiting for a daughter.
That brings me to my next thought...I have the bug -- the baby bug. It is still some time off, but I know that whenever John tells me that he is ready for babies, that will be one of the best days! :-)
You have to understand John. He is a conqueror -- like all men are. He wants to do this and that and then he'll be ready. And I know he means well and one day he will be ready. I now am being patient and allowing God to work in His own time and prepare John for fatherhood.
I think it's a female thing to want kids as soon as you feel ready. I think women know that you will never be really really prepared for parenthood. I think John and men feel like they have to prepare and be ready. Soooo.....I'm waiting. It isn't hard though.
John and I have so much fun! We've been working so much lately, but it's great because even though we're putting in 12 hour days -- we are together.
I love to know that our relationship is so full of talking and knowing each other. I was talking to his sister last night about how I can't believe that I've only known John for 2 years. It surely feels like we have been friends our whole lives. I guess that's what makes us MFEO (made for each other).
On a less gushy note:
Today has been a great day. We went to church and had lunch out with Katie and Josh. We came home and I got some laundry done -- then fell asleep. It sure was wonderful to get a nap. My dear John is working....nothing new. ;-)
I am currently watching Pride and Prejudice and thinking that I might have to pick up a copy of the book and actually read it.
I'll let you know if I actually read it. ha ha
